PURPLE PYTHON EDITION
Two Legendary Magnatone Gain Structures in One Footswitchable Purple Python Powerhouse
The Super Fifty-Nine “Purple Python” edition unites two of Magnatone’s most celebrated voicings in a single, footswitchable amplifier wrapped in black-and-purple snakeskin tolex with gold piping, black matrix grill cloth, and Slash’s signature Skully emblem on a gold-anodized faceplate. Its aesthetic is bold yet refined, designed to stand out onstage.
At its heart, this 45-watt powerhouse employs EL-34 power tubes to deliver the warm, harmonically rich tones of both the MKII’s low-to-medium gain sweet spot and the MKI’s extra-gain edge. A front-panel switch (or included footswitch) lets you move seamlessly between the two voicings, while a tube-buffered effects loop preserves clarity when you run in pedals or external processors. The familiar three-knob tone stack—bass, mid, treble—along with master and presence controls, gives you a sculptable signal path that remains open and responsive.
Hand built in St. Louis under the guidance of engineer Obeid Khan, each Purple Python Super Fifty-Nine M-80 can be ordered alongside a 2x12 Cabinet, loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, and curated stickers/guitar picks. Whether you’re chasing classic British bite or modern saturation, the Purple Python Super Fifty-Nine offers a versatile tonal canvas in an unforgettable package.

DEMO
“I pulled out all these old combos that I had and I saw the Magnatone and I was familiar with them because Billy Gibbons was using them. So I pulled that [Super Fifty Nine M-80] in there and I ended up using it for the whole pre-production process, out of everything I had I kept going back to that amp. And then we went into the studio and I did the whole record with that amp.”
“I can say that if you just want a really honest, great sounding amp, that’s got a lot of great sonic features, very naturally, Magnatone is a killer amp.”

The classic, vintage tube amp of yesterday is back — made by hand, played by superstars.
Magnatone’s invention of the electrical vibrato amplifier circuit in 1957 was, and remains, the standard for true pitch shifting effects. Today’s line of Magnatone models incorporate that same vibrato circuitry which, as experts know, includes silicon carbide varistors, as well as vacuum tubes, to achieve the “True Dimensional Sound” for which Magnatone is famous.
